At Home with Mothers of Young Children with Hearing Impairment in Jamaica

This article is a case study that outlines some of the activities and outcome of a home-based project conducted on the island of Jamaica, with two mothers and their young hearing impaired children. The project was designed to help the parents learn how to communicate with their children. Based on the outcome, it is suggested that this home-based project is an example of a pragmatic approach that can be used to help Third World parents who are unable to benefit from structured sessions in the school environment.
